Huyen (Gwen) Nguyen was born and raised in Madison, Wisconsin. Nguyen attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison and graduated with a B.S. degree in botany. Upon graduation, she worked for the United States Department of Agriculture’s National Arboretum in Washington, D.C. From 2007 to 2012, Nguyen was the assistant to the chair in the Department of Art at U.W. – Madison where she was responsible for assisting the department chair in a wide range of activities, including alumni relations, external relations, all faculty policy and procedures, and seminar programming.

Since 2012, Nguyen has been the administrative coordinator for the Cardiac Bioelectricity & Arrhythmia Center (CBAC) in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Her duties include seminar programming, budgets and purchasing, website maintenance and NIH grant preparation. With 35 faculty members spread throughout the university, CBAC is the largest center that bridges the Danforth Campus and the Medical School with the joint mission of studying, diagnosing, and treating heart rhythm disorders.

Nguyen is fluent in two languages (Vietnamese and English), enjoys kickboxing and dance classes, cooking Vietnamese food, eating and music. She’ll serve a two-year term through June 30, 2021.
